Inventor Archetype

The Inventor Archetype dates back to Ancient Greece, at least, with the first Ascension inspired by, or the inspiration for, Prometheus, who stole fire from the gods for the benefit of mankind. In the modern interpretation, mechanical electricity has replaced primordial fire, but the fundamentals of the avatar remain the same. Modern Inventors solve problems for the benefit of all mankind, with followers of the path aided by divine inspiration and drive. While often associated with elaborate laboratories and complex machinery, an Inventors contributions can by small and simple, or even an immaterial concept, as long as they share their illumination with the world for the benefit of all. It is this taboo against selfish and idiosyncratic goals that puts them at odds with Tyger-Tamers (19th Century Mechanomancers). Indeed many great minds have stumbled on the path to ascension due to petty rivalry or other temporal concerns (see: Edison, Thomas).

Suspected Channels:
(Most of their power comes from dealing with a particular problem, which must have a general applicability to humanity at large, a goal, and cannot concern a specific person. So, inventing a gun to level the playing field for everyone is fine, but building a bomb to take out a specific person would not qualify. An Inventor may have a number of goals equal to the number of active channels with a maximum of 4, and if he abandons a project without solving the problem, suffers a level 10 stress check and cannot access that slot for an amount of time equal to the amount of time spent on the problem, minimum of 1 month).

1%-50%: Choose a skill and a problem it could help solve. You can use your Inventor channel skill in place of that skill, but only for purposes of solving the associated problem.
51%-70%: Inspiration-By contemplating a problem, the Inventor can flash on a clue as to how to reason through the problem. If any fellow Inventor knows the answer, then the clue-seeking Inventor knows it clear as day. Otherwise, the universe will give subtle hints. It is this channel that most often leads to accusation of theft, from one Inventor coming up with the same answer as another, but thinking the idea his own.
71%-91%: Divine focus-The Inventor can complete tasks in the minimal amount of time, even during combat. Futhermore, he gets his full Dodge when engaged in non-combat actions during combat or other dangerous situations.
91%+: Synchronicity- The Inventor can get to where he needs to be to advance his work, but even more powerfully, can bring important people to him, or at least to some mutually convenient location. The mystically aware are capable of resisting, actively or passively, but for the uninitiated, there is no avoiding this fate as long as it is in the service of advancing one of the Inventor’s great works.
